Privacy Policy

Downlow ("we", "our", "us") operates the Downlow Connect mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains what limited information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. Downlow Connect lets customers who purchase Downlow hardware from downlowusa.com control their device, sync time and temperature settings, customize themes, and install firmware updates — all over Bluetooth Low Energy.

1. What We Do Not Collect

Downlow Connect is built around privacy by design. We want you to know what we don't do, up front:

• We do not require an account, sign-in, email, or password to use the App.
• We do not collect your name, phone number, address, or contact information.
• We do not collect or track your physical location.
• We do not collect advertising identifiers, and we do not show ads.
• We do not sell or share your information with third-party advertisers.
• Your device pairing information stays on your phone, managed by iOS or Android's Bluetooth system.

2. What Is Stored Only On Your Device

The following preferences are stored locally on your phone and never sent to us:

• Your time format preference (12-hour or 24-hour).
• Your temperature unit preference (Fahrenheit or Celsius).
• Any other in-app settings.

Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored preferences.

3. Anonymous Product Telemetry

To monitor whether firmware updates are succeeding and to detect issues affecting our hardware, the App sends a small number of anonymous event records to our servers. Each record contains only:

• The event type (for example: a device was connected, a firmware update started, succeeded, or failed).
• The product model and firmware version.
• Your phone's platform (iOS or Android) and the App version.
• For failed updates, an error code so we can diagnose the cause.
• A timestamp set by our server when the event arrives.

These records do not contain a user identifier, a device serial number, a contact identifier, or your IP address (beyond standard server logs maintained by our provider). They cannot be tied back to you as an individual. We use this data only to improve our hardware and software.

4. Crash and Diagnostic Reports

If the App crashes, we receive an automated diagnostic report so we can fix the bug. This report includes the phone model, operating system version, App version, and the technical crash trace. It does not include your contact information or any personal data you entered.

5. Firmware Downloads

Firmware update files are hosted by us on Google Firebase Storage. When you download an update, your phone makes a standard HTTPS request to that file. Firebase, as our hosting provider, may keep standard server access logs (such as IP address and request time) for security and operational purposes. These logs are not used by us to identify or profile users.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party service providers under their respective privacy commitments:

• Google Firebase (Firestore, Storage, Crashlytics, Analytics): Hosts firmware updates and receives the anonymous telemetry and crash reports described above. Firebase Privacy Information
• Apple App Store / Google Play: App distribution.
• Bluetooth (iOS / Android system): Discovery and pairing with your Downlow hardware. Managed entirely by your phone's operating system.

7. Bluetooth Use

Downlow Connect requests Bluetooth permission so it can discover and communicate with Downlow hardware you own (Digi Clocks, DigiMeter, ThermoSense, Flux, Compass, and future Downlow products). The App does not use Bluetooth for location, advertising, or any purpose other than communicating with your devices.

8. Children's Privacy

Downlow Connect is a utility for owners of Downlow hardware and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, this is largely automatic.

9. Your Choices

• Disable Bluetooth: Revoke Bluetooth access for the App in your phone's Settings. The App will no longer function until re-enabled.
• Opt out of telemetry: Because telemetry is essential to detecting firmware update issues and is fully anonymous, the App does not include a separate toggle. To stop sending it, uninstall the App.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date. Continued use of the App after a change indicates acceptance.
